Adrienne La Faye
Adrienne La Faye has over 25 years professionally as a national Artist/Painter who continuously participates in groups and solo exhibitions. She’s won numerous awards, grants, and has created public art throughout her career. Adrienne is currently an arts commissioner for the city of Renton. She’s a graduate of the U of W, and the Art Institute of Seattle.
As an Art teacher for 4 different organizations she loves teaching children how to draw and paint. Adrienne believes she receives more from the children than they do from her, because she’s reborn and rejuvenated after every class.
Ms. La Faye feels compelled to be the narrator of today's world, through her eyes, as a woman, an artist and an African American, by tell stories through her paintings. She often chooses subject’s that will depict the disenfranchised, marginalized and the social injustice of our world.
She constantly struggles to utilize her skill as a colorist to add beauty to the not so beautiful. She’s a COLORIST foremost, and has coined the phrase “Without color why paint”? Her love of color is evident in every piece of her work. She intentionally shows color in its truest form, and never letting the colors get muddy.
In her words, "I'm an evolving creation seeking to accurately reflect myself, my environment through the stories that I paint."
